Yearly Refresher Courses

• This course complies with health and safety executive regulations.
• The course is suitable for school staff and students 16 years and over.
• The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that first-aiders undertake a 3 hour annual refresher training during any three-year FAW/EFAW certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up-to-date with any changes to first-aid procedures. 

• Course content for annual refresher training:

  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure).
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
